The Providence Art Club has been part of the city's art life since 1880. Its College Hill buildings hold studios, galleries, and a clubhouse, with free public exhibitions in the Maxwell Mays and Dodge House galleries.
It is best treated as a short gallery stop while walking between the RISD Museum, the Athenaeum, and Benefit Street. The appeal is local and low-key, but very Providence.
