Loveless Cafe

The Loveless, on the Natchez Trace Parkway about twenty miles south-west of downtown, has been serving Tennessee country breakfasts since 1951 — and the same biscuits-and-jam plate that built its reputation. The biscuits come hot from a wood-burning oven, the country ham is house-cured, and the preserves are made on-site from local fruit.

The original 1950s motel cabins around the restaurant now house small craft shops and a butcher. The drive out is part of the appeal — the Natchez Trace, a 444-mile parkway from Nashville to Natchez, Mississippi, is a National Park-managed road with no commercial traffic and an alternating run of meadows and old-growth woodland.
