The best shopping for visitors is on Lower Broadway and in The District, where the Ernest Tubb Record Shop (founded 1947) and Gruhn Guitars are genuine institutions — the latter a serious vintage guitar dealer at 400 Broadway since 1973. Hillsboro Village is a two-block strip of independent shops and cafes near Vanderbilt. The 12South neighbourhood has become the most interesting stretch for boutique retail, with local clothing, food, and gift shops on a walkable street. Opry Mills, across from the Grand Ole Opry northeast of downtown, is the main outlet mall.
