The farmers' market sits at the south end of the Bicentennial Capitol Mall, in a complex of long open sheds and an enclosed food hall. The outdoor produce sheds run on weekends and Wednesdays in summer, with local farmers, prepared-food vendors, and flower sellers; the indoor food hall is open daily and houses an unusually international mix of restaurants — Jamaican, Vietnamese, Indian, Bavarian, BBQ, Mediterranean — that draw downtown office workers at lunchtime.
The market also runs a regular schedule of evening events — cookouts, beer gardens, summer concerts in the courtyard. Free parking next door, which makes it an easy stop on the way to or from the Tennessee State Museum at the north end of the same mall.
