Percy and Edwin Warner Parks

Together, the two Warner Parks form 3,180 acres of wooded rolling hills nine miles south-west of downtown — the largest municipally-operated park in Tennessee. The land was donated to the city in the 1920s by the Warner family and developed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, whose dry-stone gates, bridges, and trail markers still define the landscape.

A network of marked trails (the Warner Park Mountain Bike Trail, the Mossy Ridge Loop, the Harpeth Woods Trail) runs through the parks; horse riding is popular on dedicated bridleways. The Percy Warner Park Steeplechase in May is one of the South's biggest social events. The visitor centre at the parks' edge runs a programme of free nature walks year-round.
