Hatch Show Print

Hatch Show Print, now housed inside the Country Music Hall of Fame complex, is a working letterpress poster shop and a living craft museum. The walls are wallpapered with century-old wood block prints, much of the equipment still dates from the 19th century, and the visible workshop in the back is staffed by a small team turning out new posters — for the Ryman, the Opry, current touring acts — using the same hand-set, hand-pulled methods as ever.

Guided tours run several times a day and end at the print rack and gift shop, where you can buy original posters from current production runs (cheap) or rare archive prints (much less so). One of the more authentic crafts experiences on the downtown trail.

A story
Hatch Show Print opened in 1879 and is one of the oldest working letterpress shops in America. It has printed posters for nearly every major American music act of the last century — Hank Williams, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen — using the same wood-block presses and hand-set type that the founders used.
