Dallas sits at the convergence of about a dozen major highways, making it easy to reach from any direction. DFW International Airport is 16 miles northwest of the city, and Love Field is within the city limits. Both have buses, shuttles, taxis, and car rentals.
DART is the region's public transportation system, with both buses and light-rail trains serving downtown and the outlying areas. The Trinity Railway Express connects downtown Fort Worth and Dallas in about an hour. Greyhound runs buses to Austin (4-6 hours), Houston (5-6 hours), San Antonio (5-7 hours), and El Paso (11-14 hours). Rush-hour freeway driving is not for the faint of heart, but traffic is honestly not as bad as cities of comparable size.
