Galveston's main attractions cluster in two areas: the Strand Historic District and Port area along the north shore, and the Broadway corridor of Victorian mansions. The Seawall runs along the south side of the island facing the Gulf. A car is useful for getting between these areas, though the Strand itself is comfortably walkable.
