Market Square Park fills a compact block in downtown Houston, on a site that once held the city's old City Hall and market. It is surrounded by some of Houston's older commercial buildings, which gives the park more character than its modest size suggests.
The modern redesign added lawns, public art, paths, and places to sit, making it a useful pause while exploring downtown on foot. It works best as part of a walk through the historic district rather than as a destination on its own.
