Buddy Holly Center

Music museum in the Depot District devoted to Lubbock's rock-and-roll son.

The Buddy Holly Center is the obvious first stop in Lubbock. It fills a renovated railroad depot with guitars, photographs, records, and exhibits on Holly's short but enormous career, then connects that story to the wider West Texas music scene.

The giant black glasses outside are a little touristy, but they work. They make the point quickly: Lubbock may look plain at first glance, but it helped put one of early rock and roll's sharpest voices into the world.
