Most visitors reach Bear Lake from Logan on US-89 through Logan Canyon. The road is scenic and winding, and it tops out at a viewpoint where the lake appears suddenly below you.
From Salt Lake City, allow about two and a half hours by car in good weather. Public transport is not useful here; you need a car for the beaches, marina areas, and trailheads around the lake.
