Grand View Point Trail follows the rim at the southern end of Island in the Sky in Canyonlands National Park. The walk is short and fairly easy, but the payoff is huge: layered canyons, distant mesas, and the feeling that the land simply drops away at your feet.
The round trip is about 2 miles, with exposed rock and little shade. Go early or late for softer light and cooler temperatures, and keep a careful eye on the rim in windy weather.
