Ogden's seasons are sharply defined. Winter brings heavy snowfall to the mountains above — the ski resorts typically open in November and run through April, and powder days at Snowbasin and Powder Mountain can be exceptional. The valley floor gets snow but nowhere near as much, and temperatures hover around freezing rather than plunging below. If skiing is the draw, January and February are the prime months.
Summer is warm and dry, with temperatures regularly reaching the mid-30s Celsius (90s Fahrenheit) in the valley. The canyon and higher elevations are substantially cooler and make the heat manageable. July and August bring afternoon thunderstorms. Spring and autumn are the undiscovered seasons — mild temperatures, fewer crowds, and the canyon foliage in October is genuinely beautiful.
