Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil Falls drops 607 feet in two cascades down the cliff face of Provo Canyon — the tallest double-cataract waterfall in North America. The falls are visible from the highway and from a short, easy walking path from the parking area. In spring and early summer, when snowmelt is running hard, the volume of water is spectacular; by August the falls are reduced but still impressive.

The site is at the mouth of Provo Canyon, about 10 km east of downtown Provo via US-189. It makes a natural first stop for anyone driving up the canyon toward Sundance or the Timpanogos Cave area.

A story
A tramway once ran from the canyon floor to a restaurant at the top of Bridal Veil Falls, operating from 1962 to 1996. An avalanche destroyed the upper terminal in 1996 and the whole operation was abandoned — you can still see the concrete anchor points on the cliff face. The falls themselves continue to be one of the most-visited spots in Provo Canyon.
