Exchange Place, a one-block development immediately south of the Gallivan Center, is the city's best-preserved cluster of early-twentieth-century commercial architecture. The Boston Building (1911), Newhouse Building (1911), and the Felt Building (1909) frame a small plaza; the Stock Exchange Building (1908), now offices, stands at the centre.
The buildings are still in commercial use and the plaza is open to the public. Several restaurants and bars occupy the ground floors, including the long-running Bambara restaurant in the old Boston Building, and the district is a popular pre-show stop for theatre-goers heading to the Eccles Theater one block north.
