Red Iguana

Address 736 W. North Temple, Salt Lake City

The Red Iguana is Salt Lake City's most beloved restaurant, a family-owned Mexican spot that has been running on North Temple Street since 1985. The speciality is mole — the restaurant offers seven or eight different moles depending on the season, from deep black mole negro to bright green pipián, all made from scratch and served with chicken, pork, or enchiladas.

Lines form before the doors open at weekends. The dining room is casual and loud, the service fast, and the portions generous. If you can only eat one meal in Salt Lake City, most locals would direct you here.
