Things to do

Sterling is a tiny village, and Palisade State Park is essentially the whole point of a visit. There are no museums, no historic districts worth a detour, no tourist infrastructure — just the park, the reservoir, and the wide quiet valley around it. That simplicity is part of the appeal: this is not a destination for checking off sights but for a day or two of easy outdoor activity in a corner of Utah that most visitors drive straight past. It makes a good contrast to the crowded parks of southern Utah — no shuttle queues, no permit lotteries, no Instagram crowds.
