Crabtree Falls is a series of high cascades dropping through the Blue Ridge northwest of Lynchburg. The maintained trail climbs beside the falls to several viewpoints, making it one of the most rewarding waterfall hikes within reach of the city.
The rocks around the water are notoriously slippery, and accidents have happened when visitors leave the trail for photos. Stay behind the barriers, bring water for the climb, and allow more time than the mileage suggests.
