The Pike Place Starbucks at 1912 Pike Place is the original location, opened in 1971, and is now primarily a pilgrimage site rather than a useful cafe. The queue is long and the coffee is the same as any other Starbucks. The original logo — a bare-breasted twin-tailed siren that was later tidied up for the global brand — is still displayed here. The store is smaller and more atmospheric than the modern chain design.
Worth a quick visit as a piece of American retail history. For actual coffee, walk a block and find any of several independent options that will make a better drink in less time.
