Mystery Hole is a classic American roadside oddity: part optical illusion, part performance, and part stubbornly low-tech entertainment. It sits along the Midland Trail near the New River Gorge area, close enough to Fayetteville to work as a short, silly stop between hikes, overlooks, and bridge views.
Do not come expecting a polished museum. The appeal is the patter, the tilted-room disorientation, and the pleasure of an attraction that has resisted becoming slick. If you like eccentric detours and hand-painted-sign energy, it earns its half-hour.
