Eating Out

Fayetteville eats well for a small West Virginia town. The outdoor-recreation crowd has supported a cluster of independent restaurants and breweries that easily outclass the surrounding region. The signature local meal is breakfast eaten early before a day on the river — eggs, biscuits and gravy, strong coffee.

A casual meal runs $12-20; the slightly fancier options can climb to $30 a head with drinks. Most kitchens close by 9pm. The few bars stay open later, especially during rafting season (April–October).
