Getting Around

Douglas is a small town and the downtown area is walkable. The main historic sites — Jackalope Square, the Railroad Interpretive Center, the Hotel LaBonte, Christ Episcopal Church, the College Inn Bar — are all within a few blocks of each other and can be covered on foot in an afternoon.

A car is essential for anything beyond downtown. Fort Fetterman is eleven miles northwest on a paved road. The Camp Douglas POW Site is on the west side of town. Laramie Peak and the Esterbrook area are 47 miles south on Highway 94. Glendo State Park is 20 miles southeast on Highway 319.

There is no public transit in Douglas. Rental cars can be arranged through Casper if needed, but most visitors arrive by car.
