Things to Do

Douglas punches above its weight for a town of 6,000. The Jackalope mythology and the Wyoming State Fair bring visitors in August, but the real draws are historical: a frontier army fort, a WWII POW camp with Italian murals, a pioneer museum, and a well-preserved downtown of brick buildings from the early 1900s. Beyond the town limits, the North Platte River offers blue-ribbon trout fishing and the Laramie Range delivers hiking with big views.
