Japanese Garden

Address Avenida Casares 2966, Palermo
Website jardinjapones.org.ar

The largest Japanese garden outside Japan — a manicured park of bridges, koi ponds, stone lanterns, and traditional pavilions in the middle of Palermo. Created in 1967 to commemorate the Japanese imperial family's visit to Argentina and maintained by the Japanese-Argentine community, the garden is a genuine oasis: the noise of the city disappears, and in spring the cherry blossoms are exceptional.

The garden café serves Japanese tea and light food. Koi can be fed from the bridges; the fish are enormous, the legacy of decades of careful feeding by the same families who have managed the garden. A pleasant half-hour detour from the Bosques de Palermo.
