Getting There

By air. Teniente General Benjamín Matienzo International Airport (TUC) sits about 8 km east of the city centre. Aerolíneas Argentinas and other carriers run multiple daily flights from Buenos Aires (about 2 hours), with less frequent connections to Salta, Córdoba, and Mendoza. A taxi from the airport to the centre takes 15–20 minutes.

By bus. The Estación Terminal de Ómnibus on Avenida Brígido Terán is one of the busiest in northern Argentina, with overnight buses to and from Buenos Aires (about 16 hours), Salta (4 hours), Mendoza, Córdoba, and most other major cities. Long-distance Argentine buses are comfortable and a reasonable alternative to flying if you have the time.

By car. Routes 9 and 38 link Tucumán to the rest of the northwest and to Córdoba and Buenos Aires beyond. The drive from Salta is one of the great road trips of Argentina, winding through the Quebrada and the Calchaquí Valleys.
