Getting There

Bahía Blanca has its own airport, Comandante Espora Airport (BHI), with regular flights to and from Buenos Aires (Aeroparque and Ezeiza) operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas and LATAM. The flight takes about 70 minutes, compared to a seven-to-eight hour bus journey. The airport is around ten kilometres from the city centre; taxis and remises (private hire cars) are available.

By bus, Bahía Blanca is one of the major hubs on the Patagonian route. Buses to and from Buenos Aires (Terminal de Retiro), Neuquén, and intermediate towns along Ruta 3 are frequent and comfortable. The terminal is in the city centre. Travelling by bus through the night from Buenos Aires arrives in Bahía Blanca in the early morning, a practical option if you are heading further south.

The city is a junction point for the Roca railway — historically important but currently running only limited services. Check current timetables if rail travel appeals to you, as services have been inconsistent in recent years.
