Bahía Blanca has a semi-arid climate, with hot dry summers and cool winters. The best times to visit are spring (September–November) and autumn (March–May), when temperatures are pleasant — typically 15–22°C — and the city goes about its daily life without the extremes of summer heat or winter wind.
Summer (December–February) is hot, occasionally reaching 35°C or above, and strong winds off the Pampas are common. Winter (June–August) is cool rather than cold — frost is possible but snow is rare — but the persistent south wind makes it feel colder than the thermometer suggests.
The Popcorn Festival (Festival de la Corvina) in Ingeniero White in summer celebrates the local fishing tradition, while the Teatro Municipal runs its main cultural season from March to December.
