Bahía Blanca rewards a day or two of exploration. The city's historic centre around Plaza Rivadavia is compact and walkable, with some fine early 20th-century architecture. The port area of Ingeniero White, a few kilometres south along the coast, has a different character entirely — a working-class neighbourhood that produced several notable Argentine tango musicians and maintains a proud local identity.
