Casa Mariani-Teruggi

Preserved La Plata memory site marked by one of the dictatorship's fiercest attacks.

Casa Mariani-Teruggi is one of La Plata's most direct encounters with Argentina's last military dictatorship. The house was attacked by security forces in November 1976, when it was home to Diana Teruggi, Daniel Mariani, and their infant daughter Clara Anahi. The building has been preserved as a site of memory rather than restored into something tidy.

It is not an easy visit, and it should not be treated as just another historic house. The value is in the evidence left in place: damaged walls, the story of the clandestine printing operation, and the broader history of disappearances that La Plata carries heavily. Check visiting arrangements before going, as access is usually managed by the Asociacion Anahi.
