Tandil rewards the traveller who wants to get outside. The Sierras de Tandil are modest in scale — these are rounded granite hills, not dramatic peaks — but they rise unexpectedly from the flat pampa and offer genuine walking country. The Piedra Movediza park, the Cerro El Centinela cable car, and the hillside Stations of the Cross are the signature sights; the city centre itself is pleasant and unhurried.
