Plaza Luis de Fuentes y Vargas is Tarija's central square and the easiest place to feel the city's relaxed southern Bolivian rhythm. Trees, benches, colonial-era facades, and nearby cafes make it more than a traffic island; it is where the town slows down in the evening.
Use the plaza as the starting point for the cathedral, Casa Dorada, and the old centre. It is especially pleasant around dusk, when families, students, and visitors drift through before dinner.
