Tupiza is small enough to cover entirely on foot — everything from the bus terminal to the train station to the agencies and the main plaza is within ten minutes of each other.
For the canyons, the main options are horseback (the classic), mountain bike (rented from several of the tour agencies), or jeep (usually as part of an organised tour). Taxis around town are cheap, but you won't need them often.
