Pirenópolis sits in the cerrado at about 770 metres altitude, which moderates the heat. The dry season runs from May to September — clear skies, cooler nights, and no rain. This is the most comfortable time to visit for walking and outdoor activities. The cerrado landscape turns golden and spare in the dry season, which has its own stark beauty.
The rainy season (October to April) brings afternoon thunderstorms, higher humidity, and lush green vegetation. The waterfalls run fuller and more dramatically. The Festa do Divino Espírito Santo falls in May or June (50 days after Easter), which puts it right at the transition into dry season — often the best weather of the year. If the festival is your reason to visit, book accommodation well in advance; the town fills completely.
