La Morocha is the loudest, brightest, and most consistently full bar on the Rua do Mucugê. The speciality is the caipirinha de frutas in roughly twenty fruit variations, and the flaming cocktail show — bartenders pour spirits across the counter and set the lot alight while the room cheers — comes around every twenty minutes or so.
The crowd is a mix of Brazilian holidaymakers and backpackers, the music covers everything from sertanejo to reggaeton, and tables spill out onto the street. It's a reliable place to start the night, especially because it's lively early — by midnight most people drift to the beach for whatever party is on that evening.
