Arraial is a beach village first, so most days revolve around picking a stretch of sand, watching the sun, and stopping at a barraca for grilled fish. The hilltop Igreja Nossa Senhora d'Ajuda is the only old building of note: walk up the steep cobbled lane to see the view down to the river and across to Porto Seguro. The square in front — the Largo da Igreja — is the heart of the village and the best place to watch evening light catch the whitewashed church facade.
For something more active, the Eco Parque offers waterslides and a forest setting, and Pitinga's clay cliffs are good for an afternoon of scrambling and photo-taking. Walking south along the beach you reach progressively quieter sands; with a half day you can make it as far as Taipe and back. The village is small enough that almost everything worth seeing is between the church square and the shoreline.
