Lagoa Azul — the Blue Lagoon — is a smaller freshwater lagoon northwest of the village, accessible on foot or by buggy through the dunes. It's closer than Lagoa do Paraíso and less visited, with a wilder and more intimate atmosphere. The colour is a deep, bright turquoise in direct sun, fading to green toward the reedy margins. The water is clear enough to read a book through; the bottom is white sand.
The lagoon is a popular spot for a morning swim, and the dune walk to reach it — about 30 minutes from the village on foot — makes it feel earned in a way that a buggy trip to the larger lagoons doesn't. The return walk along the beach or through the interior of the dune system gives different views of the dunefield.
