A private ecological reserve covering about 80 hectares of cliff-top Atlantic forest just west of the village. Three marked trails (about 1, 2, and 4 km) loop through what remains of the coastal Mata Atlântica — sheltered tropical hardwoods, dense undergrowth, and a series of viewpoints over the cliffs to Baía dos Golfinhos far below. Sightings of marmosets, sloths, and over a hundred bird species are routine.
The sanctuary was founded in the 1980s by a local family to stop the cliffs from being developed; today it is one of the most easily accessed patches of intact Atlantic forest on the coast. Entry is modest, paid at the gate; an English-speaking guide can be hired at the entrance. Allow two to three hours and bring water — there is no shop inside.
