Oscar Niemeyer's flying-saucer-shaped museum is the defining image of Niterói. Set on a cliff at Boa Viagem, it hovers above the bay with a long curving ramp leading up to the entrance. The permanent collection is drawn from the João Sattamini collection of Brazilian contemporary art, but the real attraction is the building itself and the panoramic views of Rio de Janeiro, Sugarloaf, and Guanabara Bay from the gallery windows.
