Praia Central

The central beach runs two and a half kilometres along the seafront of the town, with the entrance to the bay at its northern end and the longer stretches of Brejatuba and Coroados continuing south. The waterfront has a wide paved promenade with cafes, ice cream stands and kiosks — the social heart of the town on summer afternoons.

The sea is warm and the slope gentle but the surf can be strong; pay attention to the lifeguards' coloured flags. The far southern end is quieter and family-friendly.
