Eating Out

Fresh seafood is everywhere in Imbituba — grilled fish, shrimp moqueca, caldo de mariscos made from whatever came off the boats that morning. In town, simple local restaurants serve per-kilo lunches and fish dishes at prices that reflect a working-class port rather than a resort. Praia do Rosa village has a handful of pousada restaurants and open-air bars with a more bohemian feel, where the food tends toward wood-fired grills and the evening runs late. The Festa do Camarão (Shrimp Festival) in January gives a concentrated sense of what the local fishing economy is built on — worth timing a visit around if you can.
