Itapema's beaches stretch along a bay backed by the Serra do Mar, with different stretches suiting different moods. The main beach, Praia de Itapema, has the most facilities and is where the summer action concentrates. Meia Praia, to the north, is larger and slightly quieter. For surf, head to Praia do Cabeço; for fishing atmosphere, Canto da Praia is the right spot. Praia do Costão, tucked against the rocky headland to the south, is considered the most scenic of the lot.
