Getting There

LATAM is the only airline serving Easter Island. Direct flights run daily from Santiago (around five and a half hours) and once or twice a week from Papeete in French Polynesia. Both are long over-water hops with no alternates — flights occasionally turn back. Book early; the route is on most South America itineraries and seats are not cheap.

On arrival at Mataveri Airport, on the southern edge of Hanga Roa, you must show a confirmed accommodation booking, a return ticket within 30 days, and a completed FUI form. The national park entry fee — around USD 80 for foreign visitors in 2026 — is paid at the airport or at the CONAF office in town and covers ten days of access to most archaeological sites (Orongo and Rano Raraku can only be visited once each).
