Estadio El Teniente

The Estadio El Teniente, also known as the Estadio Codelco El Teniente, is Rancagua's main football stadium and the home of O'Higgins FC. It was rebuilt for the 2015 Copa América, when it hosted group games, and now holds about 14,000 spectators in an entirely roofed bowl.

O'Higgins is one of the better-supported provincial clubs in Chile — they won the Chilean Primera in 2013–14 — and home games against Colo-Colo or Universidad de Chile are loud, partisan affairs. Match days are the obvious time to come, but the stadium is also worth a look from the outside for the gleaming new architecture in a city that otherwise reads as colonial-and-functional.
