TransMilenio, Bogota's bus rapid transit system, is the main public transport. It is cheap and covers the city well, though it gets extremely crowded at rush hour. Regular buses and colectivos fill the gaps. Taxis are inexpensive -- make sure the meter is running or agree a price before you get in. Uber and similar apps work and are widely used. On Sundays and holidays, over 100 km of roads close to traffic for the Ciclovia, turning the city into a giant cycling circuit. Walking in La Candelaria and the northern neighbourhoods is pleasant during the day, but take taxis after dark.
