Mini-Mal

Colombian regional cuisine from the Amazon and Pacific, in La Macarena

Mini-Mal has been one of the best restaurants in Bogota for over a decade, built around the idea of Colombian regional cuisine from areas that rarely appear on menus: the Amazon, the Pacific coast, the Llanos. The menu changes frequently based on what's arrived fresh, but expect dishes using ingredients like chontaduro (peach palm), pirarucú (giant Amazonian fish), and a range of tropical fruits.

The room is small and the decor is deliberately rough-hewn — reclaimed wood, clay pots, no tablecloths. Reservations are strongly recommended on weekends. On Calle 27B near Carrera 5 in La Macarena. Moderately expensive by Bogota standards, but worth it.
