The white church perched on the mountain east of the city centre is visible from almost everywhere in Bogota. A cable car and a funicular railway climb to 3,152 metres, where the views over the savanna are spectacular on a clear day. At the top you will find the church, a small flea market, restaurants, and a reconstruction of a 19th-century Bogota street. Wear sunscreen -- the UV at this altitude is fierce. Go early on a weekday to avoid crowds.
