The national police museum in La Candelaria, a few blocks south of Plaza Bolivar, traces the history of Colombian law enforcement from the colonial period to the present. The building is a handsome colonial structure with interior courtyards. Most visitors come specifically for the Pablo Escobar exhibit — a room dedicated to the Medellín cartel boss includes his personal Harley-Davidson, the pistol carried when he was killed, and various seized narco memorabilia.
The rest of the museum is more conventional — uniforms, weapons, documentation of major cases — but well laid out. Free admission. Open Tuesday to Sunday 9am–5pm.
