The former country house of Simon Bolivar, at the foot of Monserrate, is a fine example of colonial architecture set in lush gardens. The museum inside displays documents, weapons, and personal objects of the Liberator. The gardens alone are worth the visit -- a quiet spot with cannons seized during the Battle of Boyaca.
