The Zona G (for Gourmet) is the informal name for the cluster of upscale restaurants concentrated around the intersection of Calle 69 and Carrera 6 in the Chapinero locality. For serious Colombian and international cooking, this is where Bogota's chefs concentrate. Prices are higher than the rest of the city, but in line with mid-range restaurants in most other capitals.
Notable restaurants in the area include Harry Sasson (a long-running benchmark for Colombian fine dining), Criterion (French-influenced, consistently excellent), and a rotating cast of new openings. Most restaurants here require reservations on Friday and Saturday nights. The area is easily reached by taxi from anywhere in the city.
