Bars and Cafes

Most of Medellin's drinking happens in El Poblado, specifically around Parque Lleras, where dozens of bars and clubs cluster within a few blocks. It's the safest and loudest part of town after dark. For a more local scene, head to Provenza a few blocks north — still in Poblado but with a more design-conscious cafe and cocktail vibe — or to Parque del Periodista downtown, which packs in students and artists on warm evenings. Colombian aguardiente, the anise spirit, is what locals drink; craft beer is a growing scene too.
